This is a really good idea. It's great to see the positive feedback. Also, its really good to see the news updated regularly. |

So it starts a forum thread from the person who posted the news? That's good.
I think it should have its own subforum personally, or at least a [news] prepend in the topic title. |

I think this is a great idea. I really hope Gentoo lasts and does not go down in history as a flash-in-the-pan distro... _________________ -- Taylor, SysAdmin |

Gentoo 1.0 was released nearly 6 years ago. That doesn't really fit my definition of a flash-in-a-pan distro.
I quite like the idea of a separate news (sub)forum, and making it possible for users to reply to topics but not create new ones would be easy, too. _________________ No-one's more important than the earthworm. |

Excellent idea and implementation, Donnie! There have been several news items in the past that I thought warranted discussion in the community. Now there's a direct link between the issue on the front page, and a thread in this forum. I really like how actively involved users are getting, and hope things will stay on this upward trajectory. _________________ “Truth, like infinity, is to be forever approached but never reached.” --Jean Ayres (1972)

Finally a simple thing that really increases the cooperation in the general Gentoo user family!
That said I'm looking forward to installing back Gentoo when 2008.0 is out _________________ My blog: In search for ultimate programming language |

There a lot of people out there that are waiting for that, because the new 2008.0 will have the kernel 2.6.24 out of the box. |

Hopefully will have 2.6.24, though it runs fine here...test it and report any failures to the kernel team. |

nice
is it even possible to get reiser4-support into the next livecd ?
given its current state is pretty stable, (not so much reports of data corruptions anymore / even if any ) and reiser4progs are in the portage-tree why not also reiser4
and while we're at it reiser4-sources ?
since gentoo is all about choice, speed, individuality, etc etc, that would be really great (I'm sure much other users [and devs] would appreciate it)
<-- sorry if that was already discussed somewhere else, but there's no corresponding news-post (I haven't seen any) _________________ https://github.com/kernelOfTruth/ZFS-for-SystemRescueCD/tree/ZFS-for-SysRescCD-4.9.0

The post would be "Get involved: Suggest features for the 2008.0 release" and it tells you where to go. |
