After I upgrade to the latest xorg-server(1.3.0.0-r3), all my SWT base software(azureus and eclipse) cannot work, I got this error

Quote:
The program 'SWT' received an X Window System error.
This probably reflects a bug in the program.
The error was 'BadAlloc (insufficient resources for operation)'.
(Details: serial 341 error_code 11 request_code 148 minor_code 5)
(Note to programmers: normally, X errors are reported asynchronously;
that is, you will receive the error a while after causing it.
To debug your program, run it with the --sync command line
option to change this behavior. You can then get a meaningful
backtrace from your debugger if you break on the gdk_x_error() function.)

Can anyone figure how to fix it, thanks in advance...

No help, but also getting this on xorg-server-1.4.0.90-r1 (serves me right for updating at work :\)
Currently remerging gtk+-2.12.1-r2 as I didn't read the error very well, will see if it helps anyway ;)
Looks like it may be related to the recent security patches on xorg-server.

A temporary (complete hack of a fix) is to modify the ebuild and remove the Fix-for-CVE patches. Worked for me, if I didn't have work to do would have spent some time working out what the actual problem was but oh well :)

I had the same problem. I ended up just downgrading xorg-server to 1.3.0.0-r2 and now I can open Eclipse again.

There's an 1.4.0.90-r2 available with a fix now, or you can add
Quote:

Section "Extensions"
Option "MIT-SHM" "no"
EndSection

to your xorg.conf

It's all here: https://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=206490

The update to 1.3.0.0-r4, which is stable, resolved this for me. This should solve the issue. Thanks.

upgrading to r4 solved also for me , it's because the new patch, infact from xorg-server Changelog :
Code:
18 Jan 2008; Donnie Berkholz <dberkholz@gentoo.org>;
  +files/1.4-0007-CVE-2007-6429-Don-t-spuriously-reject-8bpp-shm-pix.patch,
  -xorg-server-1.3.0.0-r3.ebuild, +xorg-server-1.3.0.0-r4.ebuild,
  -xorg-server-1.4.0.90-r1.ebuild, +xorg-server-1.4.0.90-r2.ebuild:
  (#206490, #204362) Fix major regression in the MIT-SHM patch of the security
  bump that prevented many applications (but apparently none that any distro
  developers use, since this slipped by every distro) from running.

I had the issue with 1.3.0.0-r4 which was emerged by one of the daily `emerge -uDN world` i use
Reemerging the same version (after deleting relative files in /usr/portage/distfiles) solved the problem for me.
:)
