|
|
Hi,
with my slow ISDN-connection at home, it is impossible to install Gentoo in a reasonable amount of time (and money ). The idea of burzmali was great to put the most important packages on a CD - is there a version 1.4 available? His FTP server seams to be online only for some hours a day - is there a way to get an already burned CD?
In some posts of this forum, there was a hint, that such a "package-collection-CD" will be officially available on the Gentoo-WWW-pages. What is the current status of this?
Regards,
Oliver |

i have a new stage 1 tar ball for x86 with all the distfiles you need to do a bootstrap and build the following apps included:
kde WindowMaker nvidia-glx system baselayout
portage gettext binutils gcc glibc texinfo
zlib ncurses emu10k1 gnome
it is at ftp://ftp.burzmali.net/pub/
my server will be on 10:00am to ~6:00pm mon - fri california time.
it is 425 mb.
*this is NOT a bootable iso, it is a stage1 tarball*
hope this helps people.
