My system seems to be locking up at random when using the Cisco VPN. I have seen it lock up at idle as well as during use.
Gentoo Linux, various kernels. Current kernel 2.6.23-r5
AMD 64bit, dual core
Cisco VPN:
net-misc/cisco-vpnclient-3des
Latest version available: 4.8.00.0490
Latest version installed: 4.8.00.0490
Looking at /var/log/messages, I do not see anything of value.
I have tried vpnc and it seems to work without locking up, however it drops more often than I like.
Anyone seen this?
Thank you,
Garett |

Some two years ago I used the cisco-vpnclient - but only for a very short period since it gave me similar problems. The only solution I found was not to use it but use vpnc that works very stable and flawless for me. I remember I traced the lockups back to the cisco kernel module - so you are not alone, but sorry I can't be of any help.
