How do I set up a static block device mapping to a lun? For instance, I have some dell pe1950's, and sometimes, when they come up, the virtual floppy is /dev/sdb, and my fiber channel disk is /dev/sdc. The next time I reboot it, it comes up and the virtual floppy is /dev/sdc, and the fiber channel disk is /dev/sdb. This of course messed up my fstab. What's the best method to create static lun --> bdev mappings?

Thanks,
Michael

The best method is to either use one of the udev names that are already there, or create udev rules yourself that will create a fixed name for any and every hotplug devices you may have, including usb sticks card readers and the like. For example, check out the /dev/disk directory, or google for how to write udev rules.
