Wanikoko maybe we should revert to the old driver.

my usb webcam works better than before (pwc driver). I cannot test my v4l dvb-t since driver is not included (em28xx-dvb <-- please, Miguel, add it :p )

well my pinnacle tv-card (PCTV pro) doesn't work.

did any of you have problems updating ?

here are the steps which definitely worked for me:

Code:
git branch master-new origin/master
git checkout -f master-new
git branch -D master
git branch master origin/master
git checkout master
git branch -D master-new

hi all (and thanks to all involved :) )

long time lurker, but this is my first post!

i've been using many of these patchsets over the years (ck, no, nitro, beyond, love, dark, viper, kamikaze, zen) but mainly kamikaze since 2.6.21 and love it, THANKS!

i run the rarewares/debian repository (for debian unstable) and have been packaging my flavor-of-the-month kernel (which is currently 2.6.23-kamikaze5).

i'll continue to package zen at random intervals (i've been waiting for a zen1 release and that looks to be "shortly") :)

...i'm mainly involved with audio/video software (hydrogenaudio), but just wanted to say "thanks" and if there are other debian peeps out there that these packages are available.

here is the thread on HA (just updates to the repo):
http://www.hydrogenaudio.org/forums/index.php?act=ST&f=2&t=10340

and here is info on rarewares:
http://www.rarewares.org
http://www.rarewares.org/debian.php

i DID notice that someone is packaging zen for ubuntu and that prompted me to introduce myself...

later

With the old -kamikaze and new -zen sources I have the following problem.
My machine is a dual Xeon, dual core setup, 3 GHz processors.

The second processor is detected as having 2.4GHz with with kernel series. It's detected alright with vanilla and gentoo sources.
Code:

dmesg messages (good)
[    0.060804] CPU0: Intel P4/Xeon Extended MCE MSRs (24) available
[    0.263516] CPU0: Intel(R) Pentium(R) D CPU 3.00GHz stepping 05

Any idea what may be causing this?

Do you have an idea on how I could merge multiproto from http://jusst.de/hg/multiproto ?

Maybe also with
http://www.mail-archive.com/linux-dvb@linuxtv.org/msg28436.html

I don't use zen right now because I can't compil my multiproto driver which allows me to use DVB-S2 with VDR ;-)

Thank

PostPosted: Thu Jan 10, 2008 2:58 pm    Post subject: Modules not autoloading Reply with quote

Hi,

Ive recently (Yesterday) upgraded to the zen-sources, and until today i couldnt figure out why my remote wasent working with lircd.

Then today i saw that the lirc_i2c driver wasent being loaded, even though its in:

Code:
/etc/modules.autoload.d/kernel-2.6

If i load it with modprobe lirc_i2c myself, everything works, but its rather anoying to have to manually remember to load this, especially since the pc its running on dosent have a keyboard, so the remote is supposed to work from boot :)

Any help would be appreciated :)

Are you using master or master-devel branch? In current master-devel branch this problem is fixed (and I'll apply the fixes in master soon).

found the problem.

In kernel/power/power.h, change line 200 to start with 'struct page'.

ah well, thanks for all the fixes - working zen kernel again :D. here's a patch and pre-compiled sources (2.6.24-rc7-zen1) for the interested :

@ wainkoko : 1) can you possibly include this patch as a workaround to get vmware (vmware-any-any-update115a) compiling : http://hirakendu.mooo.com/zen-sources-stuff/20080110/vmware-workaround.patch .
2) did you also merge mm-patches into zens-sources off late? were they present earlier too? just saw the other day in git summary and was pleasantly surprised. many many thanks. i never ever got mm-sources working nicely :D (especially with all earth i want :p).
3) and many thanks for the patches - requires a_lot of effort and is very tedious. thanks for the patience and hope you don't mind some of the comments and error cribs time and again ;), and hope you always enjoy the work :D.

ps - i have observed something strange with this kernel - when in gnome (2.18.1) and using gnome-terminal, portage hangs (at least using 'emerge --search'). strangely, that doesn't happen in kde and konsole :o. didn't happen in 2.6.24-rc7-zen0 (before 'big' merges ;)).

and a strange alsa-centric issue. quake3 (icculus, from portage) has sound problems when using openal. (oss has a slight stutter at times.) however, when playing an mp3 in background and starting the game, its fine :o. and it remains fine even after the music is over :).
aside, anyone playing doom3 may use version 1.3.1.1304 (latest in portage is doom3-1.3.1302-r2, perhaps because newer one breaks mods). in older versions, alsa is broken, and game stutters with oss.
