Problems with CMD649C ide controller and kernel 2.4.21

Hi all,

While updating from kernel 2.4.20 to 2.4.21 it seems that I'm losing
the disks on the inboard ide controller. Using kernel 2.4.20 I have 3
disks (hda, hde and hdg)and a cdrom tith device hdc. Booting kernel
2.4.21 with the same config as kernel 2.4.20 results in 2 disks with
devices hda & hdc. Those are the disks which used to have devices
hde & hdg while using kernel 2.4.20... There's no trace of my original
hda and the cdrom with device hdc. I looked at the ide.txt in the
documentation directory of 2.4.21 and there is a note about autodetecting
a cmd64x ide controller. Can that be my problem??
