It does not compile and says something like this:
Code: |
{standard input}: Assembler messages:
{standard input}:2048: Error: value of ffffffffffffff7e too large for field of 1 bytes at 00000000000018a6
make [4]: *** [repaint.o] Error 1
...
!!! ERROR: media-gfx/gimp-1.2.5 failed.
!!! Function src_compile, Line 78, Exitcode 2
!!! (no error message)
|
Any idea? Flags perhaps? |

First I'll mention that I also know that DeathWing can't install KDE because of this problem, hence what I'm about to say will make sense...
Bizarre. Why does KDE need gimp
Code: | root@aragorn src # emerge -epv kde | grep gimp
[ebuild N ] media-gfx/gimp-1.2.4 +python +nls -gnome +aalib +perl +doc +jpeg +png +tiff +doc
[ebuild N ] media-gfx/gimp-print-4.2.5 +cups +doc +nls
|
On my system without KDE compiled...
Code: | root@legolas week2 # emerge -epv kde | grep gimp |
elicits no response. Not sure what is going on here.
On the machine with KDE and wanting gimp
Code: | USE="-arts mpi lcms aalib acpi alsa -apm -berkdb cdr directfb doc dvb dvd fbcon gd ggi -gnome gphoto2 gtk2 mozilla nocardbus perl samba tiff usb wmf xml moznoirc moznomail moznocompose" |
On the machine without KDE and not wanting KDE
Code: | USE="-berkdb mysql imap libwww maildir sasl ssl X -gtk gtk2 -gnome alsa samba -kde cdr acpi doc xml" |
Have you tried specifically emerging a version of gimp other than this one? Or lowering your optimisations?

I've taken off all USE flags and know it'll emerge some more ebuilds before emerging gimp, but still it remains necessary... I hope it'll work
I have lowered optimizations to k6 and i586... perhaps I should downgrade to 486

Ok. Do
Code: | USE="-cups" emerge kde |
or if you want cups in some of your applications then do
Code: | USE="-cups" emerge ghostscript |
then
That will prevent you from having to install gimp for now. You can work on that later.
EDIT: I got this from https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic.php?t=48530&highlight=kde+gimp
