Okay, maybe its just me, but doesn't the "Mad" face :x look just a little bit Asian to you? What do you think that says about Gentoo's view on different ethnicities? Is this some kind of terrible stereotype, that all Asian people are angry people? Or maybe that Asians are the only angry ones- since all of the other faces have no mongloid features, and are not angry. Are they saying that the Asian community stands out as a angry, yet otherwise emotionless mob? This subject is making me feel veclempt, talk amonst yourselves...

I cant say I have ever seen any racism on the gentoo forums and I really don't think the gentoo comunity would put up with that kinda thing.

/me sprays flame extinguisher all over original poster

:x :x :x :x :x :x

No the typical expression of a mad person is squinted eyes and inward slanted eyebrows. It's common toon rendering.

:? <-- Now this one must make fun of confused Danish people. ( Just playing Lovechild, you asked for it!)

And on a side note, these forums are created by phpBB. You can direct your comments to them.

Does anybody really know anyone else's ethnicity here unless you've seen a picture? If you've seen a pic it's obvious (assuming you trust it's real) and maybe you could infer from their location (not that that really tells you anything). But 95% of the time you don't know and probably don't care. I could be purple with green polkadots for all y'all know.

damn, when I saw the title of the thread I thought "uh oh, sounds like trouble" but when I checked the content, I thought "this can't be true, this guy can't be serious !!"

geez, this is the most ridiculous thing I've seen for a good while, even on slashdot (and that says something!)

The one that has problem with ethnicity is the one that speaks about it when there is obviously no such problem in those forums. grow up.

I have a confession to make...

When it comes to people, I can't stand racists or racism, however...

When it comes to OS's, I am a bigot. That's right, I believe there is one superior OS and all the worlds problems can be blamed on the inferior OS that comes from Redmond, WA. Does that make me a bad person?

Here's one more along those lines if you want to go with the stereotypes...a dumb ukranian (I'm not polish, but I'm close). I'd probably use the dumb uke emoticon all the time when I realize I posted a thread for help with something so blindingly easy.

Wow. So many bit that flaimbait! Sad times we live in...

I say because of this we create a puffy haired emoticon in the spirit of the tyrant Kim-Jill Gong, or who I casually refer to as "puff-hair".

I think you are reading a little too much into the emoticons .

I don't see why people of the same race as the Simpsons should get to be on all the emotes. :-D

Then maybe I should change my avatar! It's a black,one-legged guy smoking a pipe... Not very politically correct, I guess :)

But seriously, I can't see anything even close to racism in the forums. As somebody said before, you can go to http://www.phpbb.org if you are not satisfied by current emoticons.

No way. That avatar is cool. It's not racist in any way. If he was white, would it be racist!? No. Racism is stupid.

Bwahahahah!! Wow! 8O

Okay, I have a question for you then. HOW should it look like then? What race would you want it to be? No matter what you choice is, it will be racist simply because you have to choose a race.

Thanks. The problem is that you can use it in Portuguese and everybody understands... English is not my first language, as you can see :P

Just kidding. It's one of the symbols of my soccer team, Sport Club Internacional, and the drawing is by Ziraldo, one of the greatest Brazilian cartoon makers :)
