Hi there guys looking to hopefully get a little bit of input on a recent issue here I've noticed on my Gentoo ~AMD64 box I just set up again. I finally got my 3D accel working after a lot of tweaking and hunting around on gentoo-wiki and the forums but whenever I attempt to run fgl_fglxgears my system hard locks and I have to press the power/reset button to get any response. I haven't tried SSH-ing into the system but I would imagine that won't get me too far if anywhere at all. Here is a copy of my xorg.conf:

I'm not sure where I would look for any messages being spit out by fgl_fglxgears before it locks the system up and I'll know soon whether this problem affects things like 3D games, will update with that info shortly. Thanks for any ideas!

This info maybe can be useful for you, I have this, and all its working:

2.6.23-r3 gentoo-sources
AMD64
ATi Xpress 1100
ati-drivers-8.4.33 (7.11)

Code:
sergio@Mokona ~ $ fglrxinfo
display: :0.0  screen: 0
OpenGL vendor string: ATI Technologies Inc.
OpenGL renderer string: ATI Radeon Xpress Series
OpenGL version string: 2.1.7059 Release

My xorg.conf, that config was done by me i used some tools as X -conf and many others and did't work for me, with this config i'm using AIGLX, Compiz-Fusion, AWN (Avant Window Navigator) and fgl_fglxgears and glxgears works with any problem:
