So far, I've had decent luck with my shuttle ss51g and gentoo but I have yet to get any USB support working (is usb 2 even possible?). it seems to load the lower usb module (ohci? i forget which one it was) but then refuses to load usb-storage or recognize anything on the usb bus. of course, i'm a newbie trying to elevate from that status through sweat and toil so there's a good chance my incompetence is the barrier but any help from other shuttle gentoo-ers would be greatly appreciated. i also never got scsi emulation to work for my cd-rw but gave up once i upgraded to the latest cdrecord since it supports atapi almost perfectly.
so now all i need to have all the functionality i had in windows (and more) is usb and firewire, both of which are giving me a big headache...thanks to any help in advance... =)

I actually have a USB2 CD-RW drive working on my SS51G. I don't remember doing anything special to get usb (or usb 2) working, aside from compiling the proper support into the kernel.
Unfortunately I managed to screw up my file system on that machine and am in the process of starting a fresh install this morning so I can't check particular settings at the moment. |
