I want to install ati drivers, but when I try to emerge them, gcc 3.3 is required. Can I avoid this or do I have to lost my gcc 4 to have ati drivers? My system is amd64. _________________ Game programming news for newbies | The Ark, making an RPG the right way! |

It's not gcc specifically. It actually wants virtual/libstdc++, which can also be satisfied by sys-libs/libstdc++-v3 or sys-libs/libstdc++-v3-bin. It shouldn't be defaulting to gcc for that, but even if for some reason you had to install gcc-3.3, it's in it's own slot and you'd be under no obligation to use it as the system compiler. Anyway, just emerge libstdc++-v3 or mask <gcc-4 in /etc/portage/package.mask. _________________ Thomas S. Howard |
