Ok, I'm not sure if this is actually a hardware issue or not, but it could have something to do with hardware configuration so I thought I'd post it here. I'm basically just trying to record from the line-in on my soundcard (SB PCI 512). I installed Gentoo recently and I can't figure out what the problem would be here. Basically, sox segfaults whenever I issue the following command:
sox -t ossdsp -r 44100 -w -s -c2 /dev/dsp -t raw -
I've used this command prior to installing Gentoo with no problems. I'm just using the stock kernel EMU10K1 OSS driver. I'm running GNOME2, but the the sound server is disabled. Permissions are OK. Doing a cat </dev/dsp results in garbage, as expected. I'm going to try recompiling sox, but I was wondering if anyone had any thoughts on what the issue might be. |
