BTW: Are there any free fps with vehicles? That's the only part I really enjoyed in ut2004 for a (long) while. _________________ Gentoo - the chosen distro. |

Rabbi,
I don't know about free, but since this is a thread about a commercial game, I'll recommend ET: Quake Wars
It's a lot of fun, has vehicles, and works perfectly with linux.
Sounds like a pretty stupid problem with UT3. I'm not sure yet whether I'll be buying it. For now etqw is keeping me occupied. I'm not going to hold my breath for legal problems of indeterminate length and solution. |

I made the mistake of buying UT3 before I knew for certain it had a linux installer. So now I'm stuck with it atm. Maybe I'll try wine and see if that'll work. _________________ System Specs:

If anyone else is attempting this, UT3 doesn't install on wine. _________________ System Specs:

they'll have a linux client, the probvlem here is probably with midway, the unreal series have always had awesome linux clients and they stated there would be along with full development tools and from the sounds of it, he already has full working linux versions. Just wait for the legalities to subside. |

Today here arrives "UT3 Special Edition", and i am a little sad just to look these great Making of Movies.
ET:Qw IS a really grate game. But this "looks" much better! I will play this wonderful Game. The fact that "the client seems to be finished" and there is "just a legal" issue, makes me crazy.
Hopefully the lawyers don't need month of Time... or that they discovered this issue month before.
To play actually, native games on Linux is for a "catholic ;)" gamer like, Christmas and Easter together*!
*(Sorry at all the others religions out there, its my bad English and my agnosia about other religions. But i still hope, you know what i mean too.) |

That's interesting. I was under the impression that the Linux installer was included in the box. Good thing I haven't bought it yet. _________________ I suck at signatures. |

FYI, supposedly it will be announced here. Though I will likely check more sources than just that particular official thread -- as I simply cannot wait!

To also quote Nirvana lyrics . . . " I wish I was like you, easily amused! "
Awaiting something better than the box!

For very slow values of "works," it probably will. EDIT: I just tested ut2004 on my Intel GMA 945 on the laptop and was lucky to a consistent 17 fps at 1280x800 with everything turned down. My GeForce 7600GT gets 18-25 fps on the UT3 demo on Vista. It's strange how changing settings around with that game doesn't seem to help much. (I turned things up. If it's going to run at those framerates it might as well look good...) _________________ D is awesome.

I don't mean to sound elitist (probably unavoidable here) but honestly if you want to play PC games of this kind you really should consider getting a PC with a decent graphics card. Intel may be awesome if you have no interest in games but otherwise they pretty much suck. Honestly I would never suggest anyone interested in commercial PC games buy anything less powerful than a 7600 GT (if they were buying today). And that would be minimal. |

I'm likely missing something here, but what does a new windows-client patch have to do with legal issues holding Linux versions back?

AGEIA says the holdup/legal isn't todo with them, which points the delay/legal at GameSpy (PITA/POS API anyway)

Coincidently, on the same day that the Unreal Tournament 3 Linux server was released, AGEIA had finally responded to our inquiry whether PhysX is delaying UT3 for Linux. AGEIA has also clarified their stance regarding Linux support.
AGEIA's VP of Marketing, Michael Steele, had let us know that he isn't aware of any pending legal issues regarding Unreal Tournament 3 and its Linux support. This is good news, though now leads us to wonder if GameSpy is then the one inhibiting the UT3 Linux support (there is also a discussion about it on the Phoronix Forums). |

I have joined the ranks of people with pretty boxes :/
My collectors edition had two compartments but there was nothing in the second compartment. Am I missing something? I have three disks and an artbook. |

My version has an artbook, an install disk, a bonus disk and an instruction manual disk. I just found it odd that they were all in one compartment and that nothing was in the other compartment. |
