No. I've been watching Epic's forums and the icculus.org mailing list and there is no news. I gave up on it and bought Quake Wars with my Christmas money instead. _________________ D is awesome.

Sadly I don't have Quakewars yet, I bought UT3 on release since in the past they had support in the box (even though the box didn't indicate the support.) Post holiday budgeting keeps Quakewars out of my reach for now. _________________

They have announced this in an Article form the 31. January 2008.
I have still hope... and play ETQW :)
A really nice game. It will be hard for UT3 to top this. |

So I'm guessing the Linux version of UT3 was quietly canceled? _________________ I suck at signatures. |

You are entitled to your own guesses of course, but until they cancel it I assume it is either in a waiting state or slow progress. I'd think icculus.org would have said something if it had been canceled. I continue to impatiently wait. _________________

Hi i just updated this just for the people who don't read the mailing list.
Ryan C. Gordon on Thu, 21 Feb 2008 wrote: | The client is still being worked on (please stop asking me if Microsoft
is buying Epic), but here's the dedicated server's new patch in the
meantime... |
Don't loose your hope!
Edit: Sorry i forgotten to describe the context. Off course it's about the LINUX-Client. |

I've basically given up hope, regardless of content-free "we're still working on it" postings.
there are still massive issues not only on the client side (for clients they've delivered) but for the administrative side for the server. I think the newest beta patch addresses some of them.
They've clearly moved on to being a console game company, gears of wars 2 or a linux ut3 client (when ut3 isn't doing that well on pc's to begin with) ?
These are just my opinions with some substantiation. its sad really, with what i consider great linux support in ut2k3 and espeically ut2k4.... oh well.
i still play ut2k4 regularly. )o(, BIG, nacho's, and LLS are still packed with players. freon and ONS in ut2k4 still gets people playing as well. |

I daresay this one's dead. In this context, "We're working on it" is almost always a code phrase for "This project is low priority. Stop bugging us." _________________ I suck at signatures. |

I will never buy ut3 for Linux if it ever comes out.
I hate the nazi game company (or epic as they call themselves) |

If they do ever finish it we'll probably be able to pick it up for less than $10. _________________ D is awesome.

I was just thinking that o.O NOTHING this company has done can compare to the Nazi?
However back on-topic. Phoronix ran an artical recently w.r.t. STEAM and linux and in said artical (which strongly pointed to STEAM is coming to Linux since Postal3 has been confirmed to be linux-native AND Postal3 uses the SOURCE engine). Phoronix speculated that since Epic were moving to STEAM for distribution it could be todo with that

While not as black-and-white as our privileged information, it was confirmed this week that Postal III -- a third-person shooter being developed by Running With Scissors Inc -- would be supported on Linux (as well as on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PC, and Mac) and it uses Valve's Source Engine. Postal I and Postal II were both ported to Linux by Ryan Gordon. This portion hasn't been corroborated, but it's also possible that the major Unreal Tournament 3 delay is attributed to this move by Valve Software. Recently Epic Games began offering their Unreal titles on Steam for those interested in digital downloads and Ryan Gordon -- the one porting to Unreal Tournament 3 to Linux -- has referred to Valve's Weighted Companion Cube on his blog at least twice. |
speculation BUT phoronix have been spot on on a few while statements in the past (open ATi drivers for one) _________________

I managed to get it installed with a combination of Wine-doors and CrossOver Office (it does not only serve for installing Microsoft Office suite you know ) still, CrossOver Office is closed source, and meant to be paid for.
With Wine-doors you'll be able to install it, but using the native version of it, will render it more stability.
EDIT: Sorry for bumping, just wanted to apport my two cents. _________________ | Intel Core i7 920. | Intel DX58SO Extreme. |

Too farkin' late.
I had purchased the Collector's Edition almost a year ago, expecting to be able to play it in a few months. I just sold it a week ago.
Even if it had come out before I had sold it, from what I hear the game is DEAD. Hardly anyone is on the servers. I think there are more people playing UT99...
Truly epic fail, here. I feel sorry for everyone who was involved in this trainwreck, except for the grassfarkers who made the decision to hold this client up. |

I play this sometimes on my Vista. The game is fine and i like it!
Also i find yesterday a full Server to play. The game isnt dead. For me i like it and know where its cheep available, patched and the first Bonus Packs are available its a nice to play. Now, if you want to update your Hardware for a game like this its cheep too :))
I don't know much about the delay, but i read "in phoenix-Article (9 Month and Still no Linux Client)" that it seems, that the middleware of the game was removed in the L/M-Client, so Ryan had to re-build this. |
