It's me again. I have everything working okay except some library issue apparently. Running a duel head system produces this output from fglrxinfo
3d is working but things are just a little buggy with this problem. it seems related to duel head as if I go single the problem goes away.

I just get a crash on my desktop with this 8.433.
I'm using a hd2400 pro agp card (for HDTV), and I tried most of recent versions of ati-drivers, but no one works for me.
Any one have the same card and get it up?
kernel : 2.6.22-kamikaze9 with SLAB
xorg-server: 1.3.0.0-r2
I tried radeonhd , at least it works. |

yeah, at least I won't get the black screen anymore 
unfortunately aiglx still doesn't work, only indirect-rendering works so far for me

I've now compiled a kernel with SLUB and I think it works. I can't really confirm it, because on 2.6.24 I've got another regression (during resume it instantly reboots, which is unrelated to ati-drivers).
Maybe some more people could try it and if they succeed that warning could be removed. |
A little updated info about that. I've now used 7.11/8.433 with SLUB on kernel-2.6.24-rc* and tuxonice-3.0-rc3
for several weeks. I don't suspend (in the meaning "suspend-to-ram") normally, but I used the hibernating
mode of tuxonice very often and it hasn't been that reliable ever(!) for me.
I've done now about 20-30 hibernate/resume cycles and it never ever failed.
For me, that is definitely an improvement over 8.42.3. Of course there have been some improvements
for tuxonice, but i wasn't really been able to hibernate reliably with older ati-drivers. |

So, now i have to reinstall it(if i want to update packages)? |
Copy the driver to your local overlay and remove that line.
It might stay like that until multilib use flag has been reintroduced. |

I just got a new AMD HD3870, and everything appears to be configured correctly, but glxgears only gets ~4100 fps. My old 7800gtx got 15000 fps. I think something is wrong.

I updated the ATI driver to 8.433-r10, made downgrade to kernel 2.6.22-r9, recompile all system depends by "emerge -aev compiz-fusion", clean all configs of compiz/gnome/ kde, tried dozens of combinations in the xorg.conf - but all remained the old way. All the windows drawn with the right decorations and cool effects, but their content is one garbage ...
There is someone from the present compiz-fusion works on ATI X800 GTO without XGL, one AIGLX? |

There are problems with the ati-drivers and compiz. Wait for 7.12, maybe that one fixes it.
BTW: Don't use ati-drivers from the sabayon overlay, they are not very well maintained. |

Yes, for some people it works. But there are a lot of reports at Phoronix' forums and as far as I know there
is currently no solution.

Yes, that one is the same. Compare the previous one and you will see the huge difference.
Just use the ebuilds from Gentoo, they normally work as good as it's possible for this closed source driver.
There is just one mistake in Gentoo's current ebuild, that I know of and that is the amd64 dep (which
should have multilib? in it). |

I am getting around 14k in glxgears with my 3870.
It is still very buggy and i'm getting

I've read it has something to do with the libraries being loaded improperly.

And so the new drivers (Catalyst 7.12) are out. Hopefully they'll reach portage soon. I hope that I will finally manage to get AIGLX with xorg-server-1.4. Probably good time to start a new thread.
