bootsplash not switching to X console after loading

hello,

i've enabled the splash bootscreen with the how to on the gentoo-wiki.
i use the intelfb framebuffer and an initrd image.

The problem is that after everything is started i get to see a normal console login, instead of being directed to console 7 for the gdm.
So everytime i boot i have to type "Alt 7" to go to my X screen.

this is my grub.conf:
title=Gentoo Linux 2.6.23-r3
root (hd0,1)
kernel /boot/kernel-2.6.23-gentoo-r3 root=/dev/sda4 splash=silent,fadein,theme:livecd-2007.0 vga=792 quiet CONSOLE=/dev/tty1
initrd (hd0,1)/boot/fbsplash-livecd-2007.0-1024x768

i've also noticed that when i remove the "quiet CONSOLE=/dev/tty1" it does go to X but then of caurse the splash screen isn't working properly.

Can you guys (and girls?) help me out?

Remove the fade out effect from splash utils configuration file.

It's in /etc/conf.d/splash.
