Hi zusammen.

gentoo has pretty good serial ata support.
highpoint controllers work well.
download and run the gentoo-1.4_rc4 cd, and see if it can recognise your raid array
many people have raid on their gentoo machine. _________________ Kororaa install method - have Gentoo up and running quickly and easily, fully automated with an installer! |

if you have an onboard ataraid controller, but only have one hdd connected, you still have to "create an array". that array obviously does nothing, but it is there.
so under linux you could use the highpoint raid driver and it will detect a raid.
or you can use the highpoint ata driver, and it won't see a raid array, but will see a normal hdd.
either way should work because those onboard raid controllers are not hardware raid, and although you create an array, you need a software driver for them to work
grab the gentoo cd and see what it shows.. _________________ Kororaa install method - have Gentoo up and running quickly and easily, fully automated with an installer! |
