Suggestion for Portage. Unless allready there

Well i was thinking of possibly getting a switch to tell how much info the entire process would take. Like emerge -(new switch) gnome. would give back 300 MB for the output. More or less to just tell how much will be downloaded. I know you can search each package but when you are doing 60 plus packages on a slow dsl line it would be nice to know.

Or is this allready an option? I did not see it in the man pages.

No, there is no option, but if you search the forums you may find a variety of scripts, like these:
