|
hi
i downloaded the gentoo live dvd from a torrent yesterday.
i tried booting it and it gets stuck at "running hdparm on /dev/hda"
i did a md5 checksum test and the media is good.
What might be the problem? I have a gateway mx6454 notebook with amd turion 64 x2 processor. |

skip hdparm you really don't need that during install. |

is this happening with the gentoo linux installer or while the livecd is booting up? if the latter i would suggest you follow the handbook and just skip the part where it would ask you to run hdparm on the drive. |

here's the sequence
I insert the cd
start the computer
cd boots up
i press 'enter'
it gives me a a list of things it's doing followed by 'ok'
it asks for keyboard format
i enter the number for the us keymap
it gives me some more things followed by 'ok'
and then it gives me 'running hdparm on /dev/hda' followed by 'ok'
it doesn't go anywhere
i'm not even in the install process yet. i'm just booting the live cd.
this is the x86 dvd so i'm currently downloading the amd64 disk and will try that one out |
