Hi I am reposting this in the gcc forum as I think it may be relevant.
I get the following errors when compiling the ghc-5.02.3.ebuild It seems to be an error that occurs when compiling less than main stream packages on the latest gentoo release. I am using gentoo1.2
I'm not sure which version of gcc I have but am guessing it is 3.x

CATALOG file is not set up ; see installation guode for details

make [3]: *** [set.html] Error 1
make [2]: *** [html] Error 1
make: [set.html] Error 1
!!! Error: The Ebuild did not compile succesfully
!!! Function build_stage3, line 274, Exitcode2
!!! No error message

!!! emerge aborting on /usr/portage/dev-lang/ghc/ghc-5.02.3.ebuild

Can anybody help?

Nice to see someone is interested in Haskell!

I don't think that the problem is with GCC 3.
I have had problems using the ebuild too, and I'm definately on
GCC 2.95.3 ( Type emerge search gcc to check your own )

You'd need to talk to the package maker but I suspect that the problem lies with GHC 4. This is used to bootstrap up to GHC 5.

I solved things but using a binary GHC 5 installed into /usr/local and then emerging GHC.

Tom

PS What is your interest in Haskell?
