|
|
hi
i just recenly installed gentoo on my compaq presario. when i booted up with the install cd my keyboard did not work, so i rebooted into my mandrake installation and installed gentoo from there. when i compiled the kernel i added
Input Core Support
-mouse & keyboard support
Support for USB
UHCI Alternate Driver (JE) support / UHCI driver
Preliminary USB device filesystem
USB Human Interface Device (full HID)
HID input layer support
Raw access support
I have tried various combinations such as with and without raw access support, the alternate UHCI driver and the main UHCI driver., and I have tried compiling them into the kernel and as modules, all to no avail. When i boot up into Gentoo the keyboard does not work. Ever...
If anyone has any ideas on what I should do, or has had experience with getting Compaq Internet keyboards to work, please offer some advice. I have done everything it says in the USB Keyboard and Mouse Howto
(https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic.php?t=79&highlight=usb+keyboard+mouse+howto)
and I have also googled for information on getting it to work, but have not found anything. Please help me if you can. Meantime I have been chrooting into my install and getting it ready for use (xfree, qt 3.2, kde, gimp, etc), and I really want to use it now...
TIA

Hi
I had trouble getting my happy hacking USB k/b to work, and had to enable USB in my BIOS settings. As I remember it wasn't a logical switch, and the USB k/b had worked with debian, but not with gentoo.
Just a thought

Okay firstly, its just USB 1.1, so unfortunately it being USB 2 isn't the problem. I will try messing around with the BIOS again, but sadly I don't think it's that either. I still have a few config combinations that I can try, so I guess I will just have to do that... Thanks for the suggestions so far though. I appreciate it... |

Perhaps you need OHCI support, since you have a Compaq (my Presario laptop uses it). Tried that yet? _________________ Meh. |
