Hi there,
I want to encrypt my root partition. Not that I really need to protect any data, I just want to do that for fun (and learn something new, too). What file system will be suitable for that? I'm thinking about the following scenario: the system tries to write something to disk and during that operation we have a power failure. In every filesystem you can somehow recover from that, but how about an encrypted partition? I suppose that in some file systems this could corrupt ALL of my data. So what do you say guys?
Regards,
Mike |

Encryption should not pose any restrictions on your choice of file system. Encryption is done transparently block-wise; encryption error won't affect you any worse than a bad physical block. You need a backup in either case. If you're concerned about power failure, get an UPS. |
