I have a Abit NF-M2 nView motherboard (onboard nvidia GeForce 6150 graphics) with an Athlon X2 3800 CPU. I'm using this computer as a media PC/MythTV box.
Recently, it's developed this problem where, eventually, the display of most video stops working, be it various video formats via mplayer or xine, or recordings via MythTV.
As far as I can tell, the audio is fine. For display, I either get a solid colored screen (pink or light blue), or a "plaid"-looking screen. In either case, the image is static (i.e. a constant image).
The only way I can work around this is by changing the video output driver used by mplayer (e.g. -vo gl).
I have a hunch this is a driver-related issue, but don't really know where to start looking.
Any ideas or suggestions would be much appreciated.
Thanks!

Which driver version? 100.14.19 maybe? If yes, it's a known bug. Nvidia devs have reproduced it, so there's a high chance that it will fixed in the next release. Of course, the next release is probably months away and on a "when it's done" schedule. The joys of closed source drivers.
If the previous driver version worked for you, just downgrade. |

Arg, I forgot to mention that, yes, I am running 100.14.19. I'll downgrade tonight and see if that makes a difference.
Thank you!

Yup, that appears to have resolved the problem.
Thank you! |

Just thought I'd add that this has also fixed an identical problem for me too. |
