I had your problem with the audigy 2 platinum
you need the CVS version of emu10k1 modules
unfortunatly dont emerge emu10k1-cvs as this didnt work for me (/dev/dsp couldnt be found)

instead search on google for emu10k1 and go to the sourceforge site
click CVS at the top and follow the two commands to get the cvs source

then go to your home directory (should be /root)

Code:
 cd /root/emu10k1/docs
less README

read the install doc and it tells you how

i think its

Code:
 make
make
make install
make tools
make tools-install

but i'm not sure - RTM

then add emu10k1 to your modules.autoload and it should come up when you reboot
also please edit /etc/emu10k1.conf to your flavour (instructions in file)

if you need any more help then feel free to ask (dont PM - this could be useful to some1 else)

do try to emerge emu10k1-cvs first if it works (like it does flawless here) u are done in like 10 seconds, else fetch cvs files yourself.

Its masked because its a CVS or Concurrent Version System - that means that its a work in progress that will eventually become the next release. This means that its "unstable" although i've never had a problem with it at all. The ebuild however didnt work for me although at the time my system was doing a windows at every opportunity.
I'll try it again after ive finished recompiling - i think the problem was inadequate power supply so i unplugged my case light and its going well. gonna get a better (read "silent and more powerful") psu if it makes it all the way to X/KDE :)

sorry that was off topic
enjoy your stunning creative audio experience :) - may i reccomend The White Stripes - Seven Nation Army

Well its managed to get to X and KDE is compiling at home right now - damn 6th form.

I think unplugging the light and recompiling the kernel without power management modules helped loads.

Anyway i managed to get the audigy 2 working using the ebuild but theres a slight problem. i think the driver is being loaded twice as i have two of every sound device.
mayb if i take emu10k1 out of modules.autoload then it will only load once...
I'll get back to you

I had similar problems...the only and best answer is to goto #creative on freenode. A guy by the name of "Banshee" knows everything about this thing. He got me from start to finish.
