My /var/ is rather small, so I set my PORTAGE_TMPDIR to /usr/home/ which has more than enough space. Unfortunately, when I emerge things like GIMP, locate, and gphoto2, all of the compile-time paths are getting set relative to my PORTAGE_TMPDIR. Here is some output from gphoto2 run:

Quote:

0.000571 gp-port-info-list(2): Loading io-drivers from '/usr/home/portage/portage/gphoto2-2.1.0/image//usr/lib/gphoto2_port/0.5.0'...
0.000617 gphoto2-port-core(0): Could not load any io-library because '/usr/home/portage/portage/gphoto2-2.1.0/image//usr/lib/gphoto2_port/0.5.0' could not be opened (No such file or directory)

locate and the gimp give similar results. The first gaim 0.60 release had this problem for me, but it appears to have been fixed.

Also, I just unset PORTAGE_TMPDIR in make.conf, and I have the same problem, so I guess that rules out a bug in setting PORTAGE_TMPDIR to something non-standard.

Any help is appreciated, thanks.
