|I'm a complete linux noob btw, I know a fair amount about file directory changing from my dos days and about mounting and the whole shizam from more recently, but besides some OS basics , I really have no clue what I am doing.
Anyways pre-amble aside,
I tried to install gentoo last night on an older computer of mine, I'm just trying to setup a Dedicated Server for Steam based Games so I'm not going to be using the desktop for much else. Anyways, I got mostly through it properly, BUT I forgot fstab. I forgot to make the file with the table inside it, and I'm not really sure why, it was late at night I suppose. I just got to the reboot part and I thought i should call it quits for the night, so I turned the machine off. I'm installing of a min-CD and besides that I pretty much followed the x86 installation guide to the letter.
In idiots terms, how do I create the fstab file in the right spot? I've already booted up with livecd again because the install said
fsck.ext3 no such file or directory /dev/root/
dev/root/ : Superblock [... is bad basically]
couldn't fix filesystem
type in password for maintenance.
Help PLEASE. I know I'm an idiot. if you need more info just ask, i'm not sure what to provide..
