output of 'umerge -upv --deep world'
These are the packages that I would merge, in order:
Calculating world dependencies ...done!
[ebuild UD] sys-devel/gcc-3.2.3-r1 [3.3] -static +nls -bootstrap +java -build
if have set ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="~x86", so i wonder why it wants to 'update' it with an older version ...

Because its in /usr/portage/profiles/package.mask

the compiler works for me ( i've compiled evolution 1.3.92, mozilla 1.4b, a benchmark and some other packages with it .. they work flawless ). what can i do to prevent portage to downgrade it ? |

I think the way to do it with a new feature in portage is to create this directory/file then add 'sys-devel/gcc-3.3' in the file package.unmask:
/etc/portage/package.unmask |

hmm ... still doesnt work ... i crated /etc/portage/package.unmask, and i tried it also with /etc/portage/portage.unmask (which i read elsewhere .. )
using portage-2.0.48-r1 |
