Hi ya all

I'v had enough of playing games on my xbox so im going to turn it in to a "play" server to play with things i don't want to have on my desktop

I have got the xbox all set up and gentoo is installed :0)
thanks to www.xbox-linux.org

but now i have a huge amount of updates / installs to do
and going by the speed of things I would like to still be alive when the updates have all finished emerge(ing)

So i thought about distcc as i have 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4200+, my partners pc and a laptop all with vast amounts of cpu time/power that could be ab/used

and followed the guide here to the letter
http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/distcc.xml

but still no joy . any hints or tips any one could give me would be fantastic

If your helper boxes are all amd64, they probably don't have an x86 compiler installed. You'll need to set up a cross-compiler on them:

http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/cross-compiling-distcc.xml

just substitute
crossdev -t sparc
for
crossdev -t i686

This should work for generic x86. I don't know if xbox-linux uses a chost other than i686-pc-linux-gnu.
