The current ebuild for sun-jdk is 1.4.1_02, but 1.4.1_03 is what is currently available for download from Sun. How can I get the ebuild maintained to update the ebuild?

When you know there is a new version that you want an ebuild for, I'd suggest doing this. And this goes for all packages, not just sun-jdk.
Go to:
https://bugs.gentoo.org/query.cgi
And look to see if someone else has already requested an ebuild, or submitted one. Sometimes you'll find the ebuild in bugzilla and see people's comments on it.
In your case, someone already reported that the jdk in Gentoo's ebuild is no longer available for download and a developer replied that he's working the next version:
https://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=21935
I found that by entering 'sun-jdk' in the first box, 'Summary'
I hope that answers your question. There are a lot of 'how can I get my favorite package updated' questions. Maybe there should be a FAQ that shows people how to use bugzilla to see if an ebuild is being worked on, or how to request a new ebuild. |
