If I run an emerge -uDNva world the only thing that comes up that cannot be compiled is sys-devel/gcc-3.3.6-r1

It fails with this error:

Im out of ideas on this one, everything else in my portage tree is up to date, the tree itself is up to date, I've run a revdep-rebuild and nothing comes up either. Im running the 2.6.21-r4 kernel with KDE-meta installed.

PS: On an unrelated note, when I emerge pidgin, I dont get the pidgin executable in /usr/bin any ideas on that one?

You shouldn't need gcc 3, try `emerge -C =gcc-3.3* && emerge libstdc++-v3`.

Read this for why gcc 3.3 isn't really needed -> https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-577369.html
