I'm trying to use cdrecord on Gentoo, but whenever i run 'cdrecord -scanbus' it complains about /dev/pg*

what do i do? i have the ide-scsi module compiled and installed, and i modified my kernel params as per the howto, but cdrecord doesn't seem to be able to see anything.

also, in general, how do i add devices to /dev?

Did you supply the appropriate kernel parameters?

follow step by step the CD-Writing HOWTO.http://www.tldp.org/HOWTO/CD-Writing-HOWTO.html
did you load the kernel modules for scsi emulation in the right order?
how does your kernel-parameters look like?
what modules did you have compiled in?
what ide-cdrom drive do you use? or it is a scsi-drive?
