I have a compaq 2100 US laptop.
My config is:
AMD Athlon 1600+
ATI Radeon IGP320M

I cant get anything to work.My sound is not working. My wireless,my modem are also not working. My ethernet is working though.
i have downloaded the ali5451 alsa drivers.I could not get that to work.
I cannot even load dummy.o as a module,I have enabled loadable module support
during kernel configuration.
I have tried gentoo-sources and vanilla-sources.Same is the case with both
If anybody has a similar laptop you can send me your kernel configuration file,
and tell me what sources they have used.
If any body can suggest me what i can do,they are welcome to
By the way this is what my /proc/pci says

Try patching trident.c (the source for the sound module you need) with this:
http://www.wsu.edu/~ice124/presario_sound_fix.diff

Put it in /usr/src/linux and
Code:
patch -p1 < presario_sound_fix.diff

Then do
Code:
make modules modules_install

If you have Trident built in to your kernel instead of a module you'll have to recompile the whole thing instead.

It made all the difference on my Presario 905US. I found that without that patch, you get sound and no network or vice versa depending on what you load first.

Let me know if that patch helps you any.
