I am in the process of switching from Ubuntu to Gentoo. I loaded Ubuntu on my machine without a hiccup, everything just worked. I am trying to boot the live dvd of gentoo and I cannot get anywhere. The livedvd is unable to find my dvd rom ("Could not find CD to Boot, something else needed!"). I suspect that the issue is related to sata II which my computer uses. I am not sure where to go from here if anyone could point me in the right direction it would be much appreciated.
My machine is a Gateway GT5268E
Intel Core 2 Duo E6300 Processor
Nvidia Geforce 8600
250 GB SATA II |

I found a solution in the last post in this item,
https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-578263.html
gentoo all-generic-ide allowed the machine to boot into the live dvd, hopefully from here i can figure everything out. |
