I hope I posted in the right forum.
On my 2008.0 PPC copy of Gentoo, I typed this for fun:
Code: | emerge --search moo |
This brings me a cow, then all search results with the string moo. Apparently, typing moo after emerge at any point (like emerge moo or emerge --pretend moo) will give you the cow! I did a quick search and didn't find this posted. _________________ Join Openswif, a project that aims to be the first freeware, open source, cross-platform flash maker. |

Seems like every decent package manager includes a moo. Debian moo seems more advanced, though. Maybe the portage moo should be developed further? _________________ Gnome:

For another undocumented "feature" try candy:
Code: |
FEATURES="candy" emerge moo

What does it do? I can't see the letters that appear... they go too fast _________________ “And even in authoritarian countries, information networks are helping people discover new facts and making governments more accountable.”– Hillary Clinton, Jan. 21, 2010 |

Thanks! That's pretty cute actually. I think I'll add it to my make.conf _________________ “And even in authoritarian countries, information networks are helping people discover new facts and making governments more accountable.”– Hillary Clinton, Jan. 21, 2010 |

well since it doesn't change, it most likely is just copied into the source from a cowsay output _________________ MadGizmo.com is awesome. |

What does it say in easteregg2.ogv? The first one spells "Thank you for using Portage " I think.
I'm too old for things that move quickly.
/edit: never mind, I read over the advice referring to "-fps 2" -- guess I don't pay too much attention after all. |

If you want to spoil it the complete list of strings is in /usr/bin/emerge around line 68.
The moo output is hardcoded near the end (search for moo). |
