The root block device is mspecifed an not detected ,the necessary files (sda sda3 and others)were not copied to the /dev folder any idea what going wrong .
kernel x86-2.6.20-gentoo-r8 no problem.
kernel x86-2.6.21-gentoo won't boot no boot device /dev/sda3
kernel x86-2.6.22-gentoo-r2 won't boot no boot device /dev/sda3

I would start by determining what changed between the latest working and oldest broken kernel configs and grub entries. Use diff, or a graphical diff tool if possible. |
