Hi folks,

I struggled in the forum for some time now and couldn't find anything useful. Here is the problem :

I changed the hardware of my webserver. I thought I would do a quick-and-dirty trick and take the hard disk of the old machine, then put it in the new one and see what happens. Surprisingly enough, it's about ok. I'll recompile "world" later (the CPU changed from P3 to P4) but it runs. Fine.

There is one problem : UDEV kept track of my old NIC and registered it as eth0. So now, it thought it would be fun to assign eth1 to the new one. I don't find it particularly fun. I'd like to force UDEV to forget all nodes and rediscover my NIC just as if it was the first one it finds, and assign it to net.eth0 as should be. I emptied /etc/udev/rules.d/70-persistent-net-rules

Can anyone help ?

most probably a DUP for [Solved] Change eth1 to eth0?

deleting /etc/udev/rules.d/70-persistent-net.rules should fix the issue
