Yes. Free speech doesn't mean disengaging your brain.

It's grayed out. Middle click for new tabs. What else could I try?

I have a hard time figuring out why you wouldn't care in this particular case, since it's the most deserved ban I think I've seen in my few years of being on OTW, and kudos to mark_alec and the other admins/mods for inflicting it.

It was clearly a case of trolling, but it was overly insensitive to boot. The forum FAQ is clear on those rules.

As a moderator, I'm perhaps a bit biased; but I believe that this ban was quite worthy. "Free speech" is neither "freedom of inconsideration" nor "freedom to directly disobey OTW guidelines."

What Brendan posted seems to have been split off, and can be found in the dustbin.

Anyway yes he deserved it, it's only a two week ban, and only from otw.

And don't give me that bullshit freedom of speech defense.
I firmly believe in the right to freedom of speech, but I also believe people need to be held accountable for their actions, and speech is an action.

No one tried to stop Brendan from posting what he posted, and it's not a case of censorship as the post itself wasn't removed (until very recently, and it hasn't actually been deleted), he was just punished for an action he took.

What I don't get is why everyone is making such a big deal about him getting banned, when only a few days ago plbe got banned too, only that ban actually was unfair and undeserved, but there isn't a peep out of anyone over that.

Could someone explain that too me?

Because we said what we needed to when he was banned right then? Honestly, I think this is the 3rd undeserved ban (that of plbe) that I can think of, and brenden got of easy. I think the brenden deal has more to do with someone who barely shows their face in these forums popping up and saying "I'm not going to continue any..." blah blah blah and starting a hyp about it, where as with plbe, no one really saw a point in causing a scene with it.

plbe's ban may have been undeserved since the person he reffered to didn't take any offence but brenden really deserved the ban maybe for even longer.

Right of speech doesn't mean that you can say anything inconsiderate

after years of reading his pee and poo sentences, i am not surprised to see him saying such things, i once read him talking about how he wished his grandpa die as soon as possible, so he could inherit his assets, i said wow, he said what's wrong to say what he thought? then i thought, i might have such thoughts too, but i just don't say it out.

I kinda admire his honesty, but also think words could be weapons, WMD to certain groups of people, eg. religious extremists, sensitive or desperate people.

This is news to me.

That's a bit harsh!
