My question is: after using '~x86' is it wise to change it to 'x86'?

I ask because know that Ive changed it, and did an emerge -uDpv world
it basically wants to downgrade everything. My gut reaction tells me it wouldnt end well.

Background info:
I changed my keywords to try to solve my other problem which is here:
https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-332686.html

I was told to recompile xorg with the x86 branch. which is what I was about to do.

Hi,

If you want to stay on ~x86 and you want only xorg to be x86, then you specify that in /etc/portage/package.keywords:
x11-base/xorg-x11 -~x86

If you want to mask a specific version as not working (but want to try ~x86 for future version), add version in /etc/portage/package.mask:
=x11-base/xorg-x11-VERSION

If you want to switch ALL packages to x86, it is not recommend to downgrade them. You should instead add the ones that wants to downgrade in package.keywords specifying their version:
~CAT/PKG-VER ~x86
except for xorg that you want to downgrade.

Eventually version marked as stable will be higher and entries could be removed.
