Hi all
I am trying to mount my cdroms drives but have no idea what sort of devices they are .
I have looked through /dev but to no avail.
The two cdroms are IDE Liteon CDRW.
Any suggestions??
thanks |

They are ide devices (unless you installed scsi emulation) and they will most probably be found under /dev/cdroms/ as cdrom0 and cdrom1.
They are symlinked back to /dev/ide/ |

I have no /dev/cdrom or /dev/ide
I guess I have missed them out in the kernal config!!
Is it best to install scsi emulation?? |

It used to be necessary to compile scsi emulation in the kernal if you wanted to burn cds. However the newest version of cdrecord allows you to burn cds without scsi emulation, BUT it's in alpha, so it may make coasters instead of cds.
I'd suggest for present ot use scsi-emulation unless you are willing to lose a few cds while burning.
For plain cd usage then ide is just fine, |
