Hey all,
I finally got gentoo installed today (my first ever successful *nix installation :P) but I'm having some problems connecting to the internet. During setup I emerged rp-pppoe and through the CD I can connect to the internet fine using adsl-setup through the CD. But when I boot up through my HD and attempt to get to the internet it gives me this:

#adsl-start
There is already an ADSL connection active (pid 1089)

When I do adsl-stop though it "kills the process" (I use it figuratively because it doesn't really kill it.) Could this be due to the fact that someone else on the network is using the connection? Thanks in advance for any help.

Oh, if you need more information I'll gladly post it; I'm not sure of what to post here that would be of any use.

-EDIT-
I would like to add that it does NOT bring up my eth0 up at boot; I'm thinking that could be a problem but I'm not sure of how to go about resolving it.

it says that adsl was already up,
can others surf while you cant?
is your machine the gateway?
did you already check your network card config?
