Hi here's my problem:

Installed Gentoo: linux-2.6.20-gentoo-r8
MOTHERBOARD: SUPERMICRO X7DBE-X
CPU: Dual Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU X5355 @ 2.66GHz

BUT when booting with the Xen kernel linux-2.6.16.49-xen I can't have the:

Intel Corporation PRO/1000 EB Network Connection with I/O Acceleration (rev 01)

working.

But here's the workaround:

First recompile your Xen kernel setting the e1000 driver in module:

then download the latest driver source for the Intel Corporation PRO/1000 EB Network Connection with I/O Acceleration (rev 01) here:

http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=42302&package_id=54835

then extract it somewhere where you'll remember this in not the driver in the portage but your own. I extracted it in /home

so do the following:

tar xvpf e1000-7.6.5.tar.gz

then

cd e1000-7.6.5/src

then

make
make install

The compile and install should work just fine and you should find yourself with a e1000 module that has replaced the one in the portage.

then do an

update-modules

at this stage as I'm still a noob I just did the recompile of my Xen kernel making sure I've changed the e1000 from built-in the kernel to module.

Reboot and you have your ethx started by the Xen and working.
