I have been looking at purchasing a digital camera. However, in buying a digital camera I would like very much to acquire one that will work with Linux and more specifically Gentoo.
Any suggestions / success stories?
Thanks! _________________ Eric Sammons

If they didn't change that in the latest models (I use an older one) Olympus cameras are seen as a USB mass storage device. You can simply mount them like a cdrom or a hard drive.
Though I have to say that I use a USB card reader that is able to handle CF and SM cards as my camera takes both. I set up my PC to use automount for the USB card reader, so I just plug it in and change to the appropriate directory. |

I am in the same boat, I'm also looking for a digital camera. To that end, I emerged gphoto2, and took a look at what is supported.
However, after nosing aroung their site, I came across a list of the camera's they support.
However, if you do wind up emerging gphoto, the command gphoto2 --list-cameras will give a much fuller list.
Keep in mind, that just because a camera is not on the list, does not mean you can't use it---if you don't mind going the card reader route. |
