|
|
Hello,
I installed VMWare Workstation 6 from downloaded tar. Installed virtual machine (WinXP). No problems (that I could tell). Everything compiled and given OK by installation script.
Upon reboot there were these messages:
Code: |
*
*WARNING: /etc/init.d/K08vmware missing; skipping
*
*
*
INIT: Entering runlevel: 3
* WARNING: /etc/init.d/K08vmware missing; skipping...
* WARNING: /etc/init.d/S90vmware missing; skipping...
* WARNING: /etc/init.d/K08vmware missing; skipping...

When I power on the XP virtual machine I get
Code: |
Error Could not open /dev/vmmon: No such file or directory. Please make sure that the kernel module 'vmmon' is loaded.
Error Failed to initialize monitor device.
Error Unable to change virtual machine power state: Cannot find a valid peer process to connect to.

I have spent a lot of effort getting here, but now I am stuck. I added the modules vmnet.o, vmblock.o, and vmmon.o to: /etc/modules.autoload.d/kernel-2.6. However, upon reboot, they failed to autoload. I also created a directory: /dev/vmmon.
Same errors persist.
Should I throw the vmmon.o module into the /dev/vmmon directory? I am "grasping at straws" here since I am beginner.
Please advise,
thanks! _________________ Acajoe bellows moooo
