I have built a thin gentoo on my IBM T23 Laptop from stage 1. I enjoy it. Once the basic system is up, I emerged the XFree86, xdm, icewm, vim, lynx, acroread and rxvt. Then I went ahead to emerge galeon. It was a lengthy process. I thought it fine because portions of GNome which were huge should be installed, until I noticed it was also trying to install tetex into the box. I cannot believe galeon needs tetex. The only connection between these two, as far as I can think of, is that tetex has a LaTeX to HTML conversion utility and galeon reads HTML files. It should be a bug in the portage tree. By the way, I include both "mozilla" and "tetex" in the USE flag. I closely followed the installation manual. |

Code: | # emerge -epv galeon | grep tetex
[ebuild N ] app-text/tetex-1.0.7-r12 +ncurses +X +libwww +png +zlib
[ebuild N ] app-text/docbook-sgml-utils-0.6.11-r2 +tetex
[ebuild N ] gnome-base/gnome-print-0.35-r3 +nls +tetex |
If you don't want tetex, then USE="-tetex" should fix that. |
