Hope someone can help me (maybe I am trying to run before I can walk tho!)

I am trying to run either postnuke or PHPWebsite but I am having trouble.
On the PHPwebsite install I enter all details click the button and it sayd Cannot cconnect to database. Postnuke is a similar error.

Here are my servers

• mysql Ver 12.20 Distrib 4.0.13, for pc-linux-gnu (i686)
  
  Server version: Apache/1.3.27 (Unix) (Gentoo/Linux)
  
  PHP Version 4.3.1

The databases exist and I have followed all instructions in the INSTALL instructions on both PHPwebsite and postnuke. Granted ALL privs on databases and users.

I feel I am missing something with MYSQL privileges or something.

PHP works fine (phpinfo file works)
Apache shows me the default web page

Can anyone shed any light on this (I would love to run postnuke or phpwebsite sometime soon).

P.S. I am only trying to get this running localy

Well that was a bit weird. Just installed the latest mod_php. Stopped and started mysql and apache and blow me, PHPWEBSITE has just worked.

Very strange !!!

I am gonna go play with this now.

try with user: root
and no password.. to see what happends..
(thats the default mysql)
oh!!! and remember to create a database with remmeber to replace the datatabase name with your own database name...

Is there a step by step install for a fully functional PHPbb site?

I recommend the custom title and file attachment mods for phpBB.

They are both pretty well done, but they are A BIG PAIN to install.

Here's an example of two files attached to a message. You can't do THAT in vBulletin!
