so like an idiot i blew away all my config files after i emerged world. i seemed to get everything working right again by fixing the config files but my pcmcia card still does not want to work. it beeps twice on startup and the only error cardmgr gives me is that "net.eth0 has already been started." i tried to zap it and start it again but i get the error message "cardmgr failed to start. make sure you have PCMCIA modules built or compiled into the kernel". it worked before so i didn't see how this could really be the problem but i recompiled anyway just in case but i get the same message. i think i still have to be missing something in one of the config files but i don't know what. any suggestions?
BTW computer is a Dell 3800 Inspiron and card is a Xircom XE2000 |

in your default (or whatever level you are running):
remove the net.eth0 startup script
add in pcmcia startup script
that should do the trick.
rc-update del net.eth0
rc-update add pcmcia default |
