Uh, what the heck...
I start suffering with you..
Code: | $ rezound
using path '/usr/share/rezound' for share data directory
Error occurred while initializing audio output method 'alsa' -- virtual void CALSASoundPlayer::initialize() -- cannot set channel count -- Das Argument ist ungültig |
But do not remeber when I last used it with ALSA output. I guess something in ALSA lib changed then, I also use 14_rc already.
Btw.. M-Audio Audiophile 2496 here, so ICE1712 too. _________________ http://proaudio.tuxfamily.org/wiki - pro-audio software overlay

Quote: | If some clever soul out there happens to know how to make ReZound work properly with ALSA on the AMD64 port of Gentoo |
I didn't consciously do anything specific to make it work, but it does work here.
I have a m-audio audiophile 2496 card (ICE1712).

No, I have alsa drivers compiled as modules. When I first installed gentoo the how-to at the time said to use modules. I never got around to trying it statically-linked. Perhaps this is a reason to try now.
I'm trying to think what else might be causing your problem. Have you tried a revdep-rebuild recently? Perhaps some library suffered some bitrot? |

I just noticed I had both alsa and oss use-flags in there. I re-emerged without oss and now I get this message when I try to start it without jack running: (I still hear sound from it so something's still working.)
Quote: | using path '/usr/share/rezound' for share data directory
Error occurred while initializing audio output method 'alsa' -- virtual void CALSASoundPlayer::initialize() -- cannot set channel count -- Invalid argument
Error occurred while initializing audio output method 'jack' -- virtual void CJACKSoundPlayer::initialize() -- error connecting to jack server -- jackd not running? |
With jack running it works fine, but it seems to auto-route both channels to the left output when it starts. Using qjackctl I can reconnect them properly and it works fine.
I just now tired re-emerging without oss and also without portaudio. Now I get the same error message and it will not play sound with alsa.
So it looks like I have the same problem as you do I just never noticed it because it wasn't in fact using alsa! |
