I'm trying install Gentoo and Windows Vista on the same hard drive. I've already done this with openSUSE but i deleted openSUSE because I want Gentoo.
The last time i posted about this type of problem my post was redirected to duplicate posts. I really have no idea why because I directed to the post my was supposed to be duplicating but their problem wasn't the same as mine. The weren't putting two operating systems on their hard drive they could format the whole thing, they weren't useing bootit NG and fdisk wasn't giving them the same message as mine was so idk what the deal is. I have made progress since then so please just hear me out.
Anywho here's my situation:
After fdisk wasn't working for me I used a combination of Bootit NG and openSUSE to partition my Hard Drive.
Here's what Bootit NG now shows:
Bootit EMBRM 8 MB Bootit EMBRM
----------- 7146 MB Free Space
Windows Vista 102399 MB HPFS/NTFS
Gentoo 81219 MB Extended
hda1 20481 MB Linux Native
hda2 2055 MB Linux Swap/Solaris
hda3 58683 MB Linux Native
However, when I boot up the installation cd and run fdisk I get this:

How do i get Gentoo to see my partition table?

can you post the output of fdisk -l (lowercase L)?

You have the new style partition table its not supported by fdisk, nor any of the kernels on the Gentoo liveCD.
As openSUSE can see it, use openSUSE as a liveCD to install Gentoo by hand.
When you come to make you own kernel, it can be band to support this new parttion table format.
You need this Handbook and the knoppix changes in that guide.
Do not write a partition table with fdisk - it will destroy your vista install.

What's the "new style partition table"?  A variation on MBR? GPT? Windows "dynamic disk" LVM lookalike?

Habbit,
I can't tell form the information in the post. Its likely to be either GPT or Windows "dynamic disk" as this partition table will have been created with the Windows install.
LVM should never be written to a MBR as its created on top of other partitions.
