I have just upgraded to the 2.6.20-gentoo-r8 kernel and Beryl no longer works. Whenever I click on the Beryl diamond my whole screen goes white. I can still spin the cube and it goes transparent to a fashion. Any ideas as to what is happening.

A quick search found this
https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-556694-highlight-white+beryl.html
Which led to a solution in this thread regarding kernel graphics drivers

I have followed the howto linked from your first link and it is the one I originally used to set up my card. I have nvidia GeForce FX 5200 set as described in the above link. My x.org with most comments removed.
Code:

It was working until I did some recent upgrades (GCC & Kernel - yes I have recompiled drivers) please help to get this working.

So frustratingly simple, thanks. I thought I saw this done when I compiled the nvidia drivers.

I'm glad it worked. The ebuild just issues a reminder to do it, it doesn't do it automatically.
